2.3.27 RFID for SAP

Purpose

RFID scanning lets you capture tag information directly from a supported Zebra RFID reader and transfer the scanned value to an SAP input field. This reduces manual entry and the risk of errors when entering RFID tag values into SAP.

With Liquid UI for Android, you can launch RFID scanning from an SAP input field, scan an RFID tag, and populate the scanned value in the selected SAP field without manually entering the tag information.

This article explains how to make the Zebra RFID extension available in Liquid UI, scan an RFID tag, and handle situations where the RFID reader is unavailable or RFID access is restricted by your license.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that:

• Liquid UI for Android is installed on your Android device.
• A compatible Zebra RFID reader is available for scanning.
• You have access to the required SAP transaction.

1. Check for the Zebra RFID Extension

First, check whether the Zebra RFID extension is available in Liquid UI.

1. Open Liquid UI for Android and navigate to the required SAP transaction.
2. Select an SAP input field and long-press it to open the context menu.
3. Check whether RFID is available in the Menu.
    
   
    
4. The RFID option is displayed even if the Zebra RFID APK is not installed.
5. If the RFID APK is not installed, select RFID. Liquid UI displays a message indicating that the RFID APK is required.
6. Contact the Support team to get the RFID APK.

2. Install the Zebra RFID Extension

1. Install the Zebra RFID APK received from the Support team.
2. Open Liquid UI for Android and tap the hamburger menu (☰).
3. Select App Settings.
4. Long-press the Version field for approximately 5 seconds.
5. Enter the password EXTENSIONS.
6. The Extensions Dialog opens and displays the available extension entries.
7. Check whether the Zebra RFID extension is listed.

If the Zebra RFID extension is listed, check its status.

If the listed extension is marked in red, either the RFID APK is not installed or the package information for the RFID APK is incorrect in Liquid UI.

After the extension is available, continue with Scan an RFID Tag.

3. Scan an RFID Tag

The following example uses MM03 (Display Material) to scan an RFID tag and populate the scanned value in the Material field.

1. Open MM03.
2. Select the Material field.
3. Long-press the Material field.
4. Select RFID. The Liquid UI Extension for Zebra RFID opens.
5. Select SCAN.
6. Scan the RFID tag using the Zebra RFID reader.
7. Review the scanned value in the Scan Result area.

• Select the Save icon to populate the scanned value in the selected SAP input field.
   
  
   
• Verify that the scanned value is populated in the Material field.
• Continue with the SAP transaction.

If No RFID Reader Is Available

If the Zebra RFID reader is not detected, the RFID extension displays:

No Available Readers to proceed

If this message appears:

1. Connect the Zebra RFID reader.
2. Return to the Liquid UI Extension for Zebra RFID.
3. Select SCAN.
4. Scan the RFID tag again.

If the reader is still not detected, contact your administrator or Support team.

If RFID Is Restricted by Your License

RFID is not available to users with a non-industrial license.

• When a user attempts to execute a restricted feature for the first time, Liquid UI displays a license restriction message.
  
  
   
• On subsequent attempts to execute a restricted feature, Liquid UI displays a wait timer.
  
  
   

Note: Liquid UI for Android currently supports only ASCII-encoded RFID tags.
